Wool carpet can add so much style, warmth and comfort to your home. Choosing which carpet is best for you can often be a daunting decision when confronted with such a large array of carpet styles.
Your carpet plays a major part in the total interior 'look' you're trying to achieve. It should work with your décor, with your lifestyle and family situation. Most importantly you should love the choice you make. Most people base their decisions around three key things:
Secondary considerations such as the warranty, dealer support, environmental credentials and country of origin can also have an influence.
If you’re looking at a small carpet sample and not sure what a big piece will look like on the floor, then try using the browse catalogue function on Cavalier Bremworth’s new website.
Colour:
Colour is largely responsible for creating the mood of a room - flooring is the second biggest area after your walls. You'll want your carpet to work back with some key pieces in your room - it could be to blend with the wall colour or to pick up a key colour in some dramatic curtains or a favourite upholstered sofa.
Darker colours absorb light and can make a room appear smaller - ideal if you want to make a large room appear cosier.
Lighter colours reflect the light and create a sense of spaciousness
Make sure you take carpet samples home and see how the colour works in both daylight and artificial light against all those key interior pieces. Carpets will appear much lighter on the floor when laid compared to a small sample.
Style and texture :
Texture is all about the feel of the carpet and is created by using different yarn types and different construction methods.
There are three basic carpet construction types that are used to create a variety of different styles and textures - cut pile, loop pile and a combination of both. All have different features and their choice for you very much depends on personal preference. For detailed information, please visit
A very affordable option
Wool carpet is one of the most affordable flooring options you can have - even when you take into account installation and underlay costs.
Make sure you compare apples with apples when evaluating the costs of any flooring. Carpet can often be quoted in linear metres not square metres - making it sound a lot more expensive than it is. (A linear metre is the length of a standard carpet roll - 3.66m). To find out the square metre price, simply divide the linear metre price by 3.66. Try the handy floor calculator on Cavalier Bremworth’s website if you're trying to work out how much carpet you'll need.
You also need to factor in the cost of the underlay and the installation - but again this is minimal, especially when compared to the installation costs of hard flooring options such as tiles and wood laminates.
Quality really does pay for itself. If you're planning to stay in your home for any length of time, you want a carpet that will last the distance and still look great in five or ten years, not shabby after two.
So while price is a critical decision factor, you need to be confident that saving a few dollars now, won't lead to disappointment in the very near future.

Wool carpet – an environmentally friendly choice
Wool carpets are naturally non-allergenic, made from a sustainable resource and very effective at absorbing and filtering volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - unwanted toxins and odours that can cause irritations for asthmatics and those with respiratory problems. Not only that, but wool carpet acts as a great humidity regulator, absorbing moisture when the atmosphere is damp and releasing it when dry.
Cavalier Bremworth is the only carpet manufacturer to gain Environmental Choice accreditation from both Environmental Choice New Zealand (ECNZ) across its entire range of wool carpets. This means we meet environmental best practice standards in terms of materials used, energy consumed, water conserved, waste produced and discharged, and emissions. This accreditation covers all Cavalier Bremworth and Bremworth Collection carpets.
The company also has ISO14001 accreditation, demonstrating a commitment to take responsibility for its manufacturing footprint and continually improve its performance. Cavalier Bremworth was a foundation member of the New Zealand Green Building Council and all our carpets gain maximum credit points for the Green Star NZ Office Design Rating Tool.
